Problem
New users often do not know which automation to run, and expert users want a faster way to trigger automations without navigating menus.
Our goal was to design AI Insight, an intuitive module that simplifies automation discovery and insight interpretation, powered by natural language input and AI summarization.
I partnered closely with product and engineering to build domain understanding and align the team on user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility. I interviewed both power users and new users to uncover key behaviors and pain points, then translated those insights into simple, logical flows. To move fast under evolving requirements, I created clickable prototypes and tested early and often with internal stakeholders and users, validating assumptions and turning feedback into actionable iteration.
New users often do not know which automation to run, and expert users want a faster way to trigger automations without navigating menus.
I began with a fast, exploratory ideation phase, generated several interaction concepts, and aligned on direction with the product team. To evaluate usability with realistic scenarios, I built a clickable prototype using real automation data and tested it with both new and expert users. Through multiple rounds of iteration and usability testing, I refined the flow, then partnered closely with engineering to finalize specs and ship the experience.
I redesigned the chat experience to balance clarity for new users and speed for experts. Based on testing, I introduced distinct reference-link types to make results easier to interpret, and designed a two-level pushout panel that lets users drill down from a high-level answer to supporting details and root cause, without losing context.
